DECOUPLED MOLDING® Workshop

Course Description

Through a combination of guided, hands-on lab activities and classroom instruction, participants will deconstruct and then rebuild processes using systematic, data-driven methodologies. By the end of the course, students will have used a proven sequence of machine qualification, mold performance, and process development studies to enhance previously established processes, demonstrate Return on Investment (ROI), and outline opportunities for potential mold and machine performance improvements.

The Decoupled Molding Workshop is highly recommended as a primer for students intending to enroll in Master Molder I.

Course length: 3 days

Course Objectives
  • Evaluate current mold and machine conditions and outline areas for potential improvement
  • Evaluate the processing capability of molding machines
  • Build and document a robust Decoupled process with the current machine and mold conditions
  • Document Return on Investment (ROI) based on improvements to cycle time, machine and labor expenses, and material usage
Course Prerequisites

It is strongly recommended that the participant has prior machine operation experience, has successfully completed the following courses, or has equivalent knowledge/experience:

Delivery Format Options

This course is available publicly or in-plant.

In-plant: For most impactful results, this course is best taught using real-world process targets at your facility (in-plant), guided by one of our expert trainer-consultants. Please contact us for requirements.

Public: For the public version of this course, students will work with molds and machines that imitate various real-world molding scenarios at one of our training facilities.
